Carbon-neutral multifamily housing development in Grand Rapids near the Medical Mile with transit access and sustainable design.

Bradford Station Carbon-Neutral Living

Cella developed Bradford Station, Grand Rapids’ first carbon-neutral apartment building, delivering 23 energy-efficient, all-electric units, plus retail space.

Cella developed Bradford Station, transforming a vacant lot at Lafayette and Bradford into the first carbon-neutral apartment building in Grand Rapids. This thoughtfully designed mixed-use property features 23 studio and one-bedroom apartments plus ground-floor retail space, delivering sustainable urban housing within walking distance of the Medical Mile and the GVSU Health Campus. Positioned in a highly walkable, transit-accessible neighborhood, the project supports car-free living with secure bicycle storage and direct access to The Rapid Route 11.

As an all-electric, high-performance building, Bradford Station consumes approximately 50% less energy than a standard new apartment development. The 16,500-square-foot property is fully compliant with the Grand Rapids 2030 District (GR2030) and reflects best practices in sustainable multifamily construction, energy efficiency, and environmentally responsible urban infill development.

Certified Net Zero Carbon by Net Zero Analysis, a U.S. Department of Energy Zero Net Energy Home Verifier, Bradford Station sets a new benchmark for climate-forward housing in West Michigan. By combining carbon-neutral design, energy-efficient systems, and strategic infill development near major healthcare and education anchors, Cella continues to lead in sustainable real estate development and innovative mixed-use construction in Grand Rapids.
