730 Leonard NW Mixed-Use Redevelopment
Adaptive reuse of a former warehouse into a mixed-use building featuring 18 apartments and ground-floor retail along the Leonard Street corridor in Grand Rapids.
Originally constructed as a warehouse, 730 Leonard Street NW was an underutilized and largely vacant building on the northwest side of Grand Rapids. Through a thoughtful redevelopment, the solid brick structure was transformed into a mixed-use property featuring residential apartments and neighborhood-serving retail space.
The renovated building now includes ten studio apartments and eight one-bedroom units, along with 3,698 square feet of divisible retail space. A portion of the ground-floor space is home to the Cella Building Company corporate offices.
Apartments feature private balconies, stainless steel appliances, high-end finishes, video security, and indoor bicycle storage. Located along Leonard Street’s growing corridor of restaurants, cafés, and neighborhood businesses, the property offers walkable access to local amenities.
The project was completed with the support of the West Grand Neighborhood Association and the West Leonard Business Association. The renovated building is fully compliant with the Grand Rapids 2030 District sustainability standards.
