Kingsley Building Mixed-Use Revitalization
Kingsley Building historic Art Deco mixed-use redevelopment in Eastown Grand Rapids.
Originally constructed in 1926 as the Grand Rapids Storage & Van Co., the Kingsley Building was designed by noted architect George S. Kingsley and remains a historic landmark in Grand Rapids’ Eastown neighborhood. Through a thoughtful redevelopment effort, the underutilized property was transformed into a vibrant mixed-use destination with retail at street level and offices and apartments above.
The Art Deco-style building, now LEED Silver Certified, sits within Eastown’s thriving district of shops, restaurants, cafés, breweries, and locally owned businesses. Today the building includes five retail spaces, twenty office suites, and forty-one one- and two-bedroom apartments.
Cella partnered with the building owners and the City of Grand Rapids from concept through occupancy, helping guide the revitalization of this historic structure into a dynamic space that supports both neighborhood commerce and urban living.
